Professional Development Opportunity – Build career coaching and workforce guidance skills

What: Monthly virtual training for professionals providing career coaching & workforce guidance.

Who: Practitioners who have a role in directly supporting individuals making decisions on workforce training and jobs. This includes Ohio Means Jobs case managers, school guidance counselors, treatment center workforce placement managers, re-entry coordinators, career coaches, etc.

When: The third Thursday of each month beginning March 21, 2024 (excluding November & December).

Time: 2:30 – 4pm ET, via Zoom

Purpose: Develop a deeper understanding of in-demand career pathways and the corresponding training, placement, and apprenticeship opportunities. Reinforce best practice career coaching skills.

Training Outline

30 Minutes – Developing knowledge of career pathways
Guest presenters who are industry experts will overview a particular job and/or sector that is considered in-demand and is supported with additional resources. The presenter to outline prerequisites, how to access education and training opportunities, employers with openings, opportunities for internships or a jobs, etc.

60 Minutes – Honing skills for career coaching and workforce guidance

This training will include professional development “small bites” intended to deepen a specific skill used in career coaching. This section of time will utilize breakout rooms so that participants can practice the skills and gain input from their peers on applications of the skill.

CEU’s (Continuing Education Units) are available for individuals who are registered and complete 10 sessions.
